Checklist: Create a new Typefi Section in Typefi Designer

Use this checklist when you are creating a new Typefi Section.

Before creating a new Typefi Section, it's a good idea to check that:

• All parent (formerly master) pages required for creating a Typefi Section have been created, including:
• Typefi Sections that have a different layout for the first page and continuation pages have two parent pages (for example, chapter opener and chapter body).
•   Typefi Sections that include any specially designed filler parent pages. 

•   Parent pages that will be used in a Typefi Main Story, Table of Contents (TOC), Index, or Endnote Section contain a corresponding Typefi Frame:
  •   Parent pages used in a Typefi Main Story Section contain a Typefi Main Story Frame.
  •   Parent pages used in a Typefi TOC Section contain a Typefi TOC Frame.
  •   Parent pages used in a Typefi Index Section contain a Typefi Index Frame.
  •   Parent pages used in a Typefi Endnote Section contain a Typefi Endnote Frame.

•   Fixed Typefi Elements have been placed on the relevant parent page. The content within a Typefi Element will repeat every time that Typefi Element appears in the final document. If you want a Typefi Element to appear only once per Typefi Section, place the element on parent pages that are used once per Typefi Section.

•   If needed, Typefi Fields have been added to the relevant parent page:
  •   Typefi Section Fields, such as a ChapterTitle or ChapterNumber, have been added where relevant (for example, in headers or footers and title pages).
  •   Typefi Element Fields, such as an ImageCredit, have been added where relevant (for example, in an element image frame).
  •   Typefi Project Fields, such as BookTitle, have been added where relevant (for example, on the cover page and in a footer).

While creating new Typefi Section, it's a good idea to double-check:

•   The parent page Starts on option is set according to the design of the publication, and the preceding Typefi Section has the relevant filler parent page set, or [None]. 

•   Typefi Sections with different numbering styles (for example, front matter, which typically uses Roman numbers) are set for the Typefi Section type.

And, keep in mind:

•  XSLT transforms: When transforming content, you do not want to output an empty Typefi Section element. If there is no content for a Typefi Section, then the corresponding Typefi Section element should not be output. If an empty Typefi Section element is outputted, a Typefi Section with a blank page will be created in the final InDesign document.

•   Event scripts may add extra requirements. For example, consider an event script that makes sure the number of pages in a publication before the inside back cover is a multiple of four. The script will insert a specific number of blank pages until this requirement is met. For the script to work, the Typefi Section must include parent pages for the inside back cover and back cover as its last two pages.
