A Typefi Project Field is a text field in which the value remains the same across all pages and sections of a publication. It is commonly used for inserting project-level content, such as the document title, subtitle, author, publisher, copyright, or International Standard Book Number (ISBN).

Setting the value of a Typefi Project Field ↩
A Project Field's value can be set in several ways, depending on your publishing workflow.
If you use Typefi Writer to author content, you can set the value in the following ways:
- via the Edit metadata workflow action,
- via an XSLT, but only if the Project Field value can be derived from the source file,
- via the Fields Values tab in the Fields dialogue in Typefi Writer (to open the dialogue, either click Fields or Publish in the Document group in the Typefi tab of the Word ribbon).
If you use an XML-based publishing workflow, you can set the value in the following ways:
- via the Edit metadata workflow action, or
- via an XSLT, but only if the Project Field value can be derived from the source file.
Creating a Typefi Project Field ↩
NOTE In the InDesign template, a Project Field will have a name and a placeholder on a master page. Do not put the placeholder in a Typefi Frame (such as a Main Story, or an Element Content Frame) because any pre-existing content in those frames, including any Field placeholders, will be replaced by actual content during the automated page composition process.
To create a Typefi Project Field:
- Open the Typefi Fields panel (Window → Typefi → Fields).
- Click the Create new Field icon at the bottom of the panel, or choose New Typefi Field from the panel menu.
- In the Typefi Field Options dialogue, enter a unique Name, set the Type to Project, and then click OK.
After you create a Project Field, the next step is to insert it into an InDesign text frame.
