Create and edit an Element Audio Frame

Element Audio Frames are placeholder frames used within Typefi Elements that enable you to insert audio content into a layout. The audio files you insert can be played when the document is exported to Adobe PDF or EPUB. During the automated page composition process, an Element Audio Frame is populated with the audio file that is referenced in its corresponding Typefi Element.

To ensure your audio content can be played by a broad range of media players and hardware devices, we recommend that you use the MP3 file format.

Create an Element Audio Frame

1. Create a graphic frame and select it.
   
2. Choose Object → Typefi Frame Type → Element Audio. Alternatively, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (macOS) the selected frame and choose Typefi Frame Type → Element Audio from the shortcut menu.
3. In the Element Audio Options dialogue:
   • Choose an option from the Fitting pop-up menu to determine how the poster image will be sized when placed into the frame during page composition. There are six options to choose from: None, Fit Frame to Content, Fit Content to Frame, Fit Content Proportionally, Fit Frame Proportionally, or Center Content.    • Select Play On Page Load to play the audio file when you turn to the page on which the audio object is located.
   • Select Stop on Page Turn to stop playing the audio file when you turn to a different page.
   • Select Loop to play an audio file repeatedly. This option is only compatible with MP3 files.
   • Choose an option from the Poster pop-up menu to specify which graphic you want to appear in the play area (defined by the size of the Element Audio Frame). There are three options to choose from: None, Standard, or Choose Image. The Standard option displays a generic audio poster that isn’t based on the contents of the file. If you choose a custom image, it will be embedded in the template. During page composition, the same poster image will be used for each iteration of the element.
     
4. Click OK to apply the settings. The Element Audio Frame border is assigned a colour (charcoal by default).
   

Edit an Element Audio Frame

1. Select an Element Audio Frame.
2. Choose Object → Typefi Frame Options. Alternatively, right-click (Windows) or Control-click (macOS) the selected frame and choose Typefi Frame Options from the shortcut menu.
3. In the Element Audio Options dialogue, change the settings as needed.
4. Click OK to apply the settings.

The Element Audio Options applied to an Element Audio Frame serve as pre-assigned settings in a template. After using Typefi to generate an InDesign file, you can modify the settings applied to individual media files by choosing Window → Interactive → Media.
