Border preferences

Borders make it easy to tell the difference between Typefi Frames and Adobe InDesign frames. You can specify the color, width, and opacity for Typefi Frame borders in the Typefi Borders Preferences dialog.

Open the Typefi Border Preferences dialog

To open the Typefi Borders Preferences dialog:

1. Open InDesign Preferences:
   • Windows: Choose Edit → Preferences → Typefi.
   • macOS: Choose InDesign → Preferences → Typefi.
2. Choose Borders.

Border preferences you can change

From the Typefi Borders Preferences dialog, you can set the following preferences:

• Show Typefi Borders: shows Typefi Borders in the InDesign document.
• Weight: sets a default stroke weight for all Typefi Frame borders (for example, 2.5 pt).
• Opacity: sets a default opacity for all Typefi Frame borders (for example, 60%).
• Color: specifies the colour of individual frame types.
• Opacity: sets a default opacity and override the default value for individual frame types. If there is no value in the individual frame type opacity field, then the opacity is the default value.
• Type: select which frame type borders you want to see.
• Save as Default Settings: saves your preferences as the new default settings.
• Use Defaults: resets all borders to their default stroke weight, opacity, and colour.

If you change the border preferences while a document is open, your changes only apply to that document. If you change the border preferences without having a document open, your changes apply to all future documents.

Additional ways to turn on Typefi Borders

In addition to using the Typefi Borders Preferences dialog, you can also turn on Typefi Borders in InDesign in two other ways: using the Typefi Elements panel menu and using the View menu:

• From the Typefi Elements panel menu, select Show Frames.
• From InDesign‘s View menu, select Typefi Extras → Show Frame Borders.

When turning on Typefi borders, make sure you also:

1. Enable Show Frame Edges: View → Extras → Show Frame Edges.
2. Disable Overprint Preview, if enabled: View → Overprint Preview.
3. Set the Screen Mode to Normal: View → Screen Mode → Normal.
