You are publishing a job from Typefi Writer, and all seems to be going well. But then, the Typefi Print Manager shows a status of Offline.
There are currently three known reasons for this message.
Server offline
The server you are trying to send your job to cannot be reached. This may be due to any number of network-related issues, or it may have been taken down for maintenance.
There are some things you could try:
- Check with your IT staff if any known issues are preventing you from reaching the server.
- Check if you can reach the server by logging in using a browser (if you have access to that information)
- Check if you are the only one, or if other colleagues have the same result
If you do not feel comfortable with network issues, feel free to file a ticket so we can help you narrow down the cause.
Job error
Normally the Print Manager mirrors any errors provided by the Typefi Job logs. But there are certain rare occasions where a reported error is unique and is incorrectly reported with a status of Offline because the job fails almost instantly on the server.
Depending on your level of comfort with Typefi Server and the Jobs view, you could take a look and see if any jobs failed around the time of submission. It is very likely that your best course of action is to file a ticket so we can help you narrow down the cause.
Path trouble
If you are importing an older saved workflow where the Links tab of the Import DOCX action is set to Use custom folder, and a path is specified. After the import, this filepath is not updated, and the original location cannot be found. This may be reported with a status of Offline in Print Manager.
Filename with spaces
Linked assets with filenames containing a space before the extension, like name_of_file .jpg, will cause Print Manager to report a status of Offline.
This is actually an issue with Typefi Server 8.13 and earlier, and will be fixed in a future version. Removing the space before the extension will allow you to complete the job.
