In templates with facing pages, there are several options for which page a Typefi Section can start on. These options are set in the Starts on pop-up menu in the Typefi Section Options dialogue.
In templates without facing pages, these options will all give the same result, so leaving them set to the default (Either Side) is fine.
To specify where the parent page starts:
- Open the Typefi Section panel (Window → Typefi → Sections).
- Open the Typefi Section Options dialogue: select the name of a Typefi Section, then go to Panel menu → Section Options. Alternatively, double-click the name of a Typefi Section.
- Within the Pages tab, choose an option from the Starts on pop-up menu.
Starts on Options
- Either Side: The first page of the Typefi Section can start on either the left or right side, depending on which side the previous Typefi Section ends on. For instance, if the previous Typefi Section finishes on a right-side page, then the Typefi Section will start on a left side page.
- Right Side: The first page of the Typefi Section must start on the right side, regardless of whether the previous Typefi Section ends on a left or right side page.
- Left Side: The first page of the Typefi Section must start on the left side, regardless of whether the previous Typefi Sections ends on a left or right side page.
- Either Side, Use All Pages: The first page of the Typefi Section can start on either the left or right side, depending on which side the previous Typefi Section ends on, and both the left and right sides of the parent spread must be used. If the Typefi Section starts on a left side page, a right-side page is added whether there is content for it or not (or vice versa).
- Right Side, Use All Pages: The first page of the Typefi Section must start on the right side, and both the left and right sides of the parent spread must be used. A left side page is inserted, whether there is content for it or not.
- Left Side, Use All Pages: The first page of a Typefi Section must start on the left side, and both the left and right sides of the parent spread must be used. A right-side page is inserted, whether there is content for it or not. Use this option when the Typefi Section design uses an opener spread. Left Side, Use All Pages ensures the design elements in the opener spread are used on both pages. Remember, if Left Side is used, the right parent page is not used, even if it has design elements. Instead, the next parent page listed in the Typefi Section Options dialogue is inserted.
