Keyboard shortcuts help you quickly perform tasks in documents using your keyboard instead of your mouse. Many keyboard shortcuts appear next to the command names in menus.
Customise your keyboard shortcuts
Previous versions of Typefi Writer (before Typefi Writer 8.4) included keyboard shortcuts for many commands. But you couldn't customise these shortcuts (for example, re-assigning to a different key combination or disabling a shortcut).
With Typefi Writer 8.4 and later, we removed our preset keyboard shortcuts. Instead, we recommend create your own custom keyboard shortcuts:
- Click File → Options → Customize Ribbon.
-
At the bottom of the Customize the Ribbon and keyboard shortcuts pane, click Customize.
-
In the Save changes in box, select the current document name or template that you want to save the keyboard shortcut changes in. For example, Normal.
-
In the Categories box, click the category that contains the command or another item that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to or remove a keyboard shortcut from. All Typefi Writer commands are found in the Macros category.
-
In the Macros box, select the name of the command that you want to assign a keyboard shortcut to. All Typefi Writer commands use "
TPS_
" as a common prefix. -
In the Press new shortcut key box, press the combination of keys that you want to assign. For example, press CTRL plus the key that you want to use.
- Click Assign.
IMPORTANT: Reassigning a combination of keys means that you can no longer use the combination for its original purpose. For example, pressing CTRL + B changes selected text to bold. If you reassign CTRL + B to a new command or another item, you will not be able to make text bold by pressing CTRL + B unless you restore the keyboard shortcut assignments to their original settings by clicking Reset All at the bottom of the Customize Keyboard dialog.
