Utility plug-in (v18) release notes – Typefi Support

The collection of Utility actions add assemble, copy, delete, email, FTP, move, and tag functions to Typefi workflows. In addition to the file-based functions, editing metadata and applying conditions to content are also supported. For more information about the Utility plug-in, please get in touch.

The latest version of the Utility plug-in is 18.0.883, released on 19 April 2024.

18.0.883 — 19 April 2024

Requires Typefi Server 8.5–8.13

The Create Archive action now supports renaming output files and folders with multiple periods (for example, output.name.zip).
In Apply Conditions: Fixed a bug that adds an empty condition when saving or re-opening a workflow.
In Assemble CXMLs: Fixed an issue in a Mac environment where output CXML documents were out of order.
In the Expand archive workflow action, a bug was fixed that prevented archives from expanding because part of the file name was mistaken for the file format.

The Input for Move, Delete, and Assemble Content XMLs can now be a file or a folder.
You can now load conditions from a Content XML file.
Expand Archive no longer places __MACOSX folders on Typefi Server.
Using the ${job-folder} workflow variable as the source or destination for Move no longer results in an illegal char error.
In Typefi Desktop and Workgroup, the placeholder for Input in Create archive is now Input instead of undefined.

Fixed several issues in Expand archive:
- Fixed a bug that caused jobs to fail when running two Expand archive actions simultaneously. This happened because the files unzipped in the first job went into the second job.
- Fixed a bug that renamed unzipped files with all lowercase characters, even if the original filenames included uppercase characters.
- Fixed a bug that replaced the Spanish special character é with the replacement character � when expanded.
- Changed the Input field label from zip to Choose File (.zip, .7z, .tar.gz, .xzip).
Fixed an issue in Move and Copy where, if you chose to rename existing files, only one copy of the file was in the job folder. Now, both copies are in the job folder differentiated by -1 (for example, file.txt and file-1.txt).

Known issues

When a workflow contains the Expand archive action, a redundant pop-up window appears, asking you if you want to expand the zip archive. Please choose Do not expand.

Fixed a Copy bug where copying a folder and then immediately deleting it could result in a locked and inaccessible folder.
Fixed an incorrect library reference in Assemble Content XMLs and Edit metadata that caused a critical error: An internal server error has occurred. Details (java.lang.IllegalStateException: Expected BEGIN_OBJECT but was STRING at line 1 column 1 path $).
Fixed an Assemble Content XMLs bug where combining files with Section or Element fields could create invalid Content XML output.

Added XZIP support to Expand archive.

- Added support for workflow variables, for example: ${ask}.
- Fixed a bug where changes were not saved when all fields were set to ${pass-through}.
Fixed a bug where combining files (Assemble Content XMLs) with project fields resulted in an invalid Content XML file.
Fixed ZIP handling by Ingest archive and Expand archive actions.
Fixed a bug where Create archive could fail if the output filename matched the input folder path and filters were used to select specific file types.
Fixed a bug where Copy folder → Copy folder contents only was ignored.

Added more detail to job log when overwriting existing files.
Added Ingest archive workflow action to ingest an archive containing an XML to be used in following workflow actions.
Added Create archive workflow action to compress files or a folder; use the Filter field to set wildcards to restrict the scope (for example, "*.pdf" to only compress PDF files within the Input directory).
Multiple improvements to the Edit Metadata workflow action:
- Edit Metadata now has On/Off toggle switches for each field.
- Edit Metadata now provides better feedback if an input file doesn't contain Typefi project fields.
- Edit Metadata will now only add new fields when clicking Reload Metadata (to reload values for existing fields, select Reset from the Add Variable menu for each existing field).
Improved appearance of Spanish localisations in pop-up menus.
Improved handling of existing files for Copy, Copy folder, Move and FTP workflow actions.
Improved handling of invalid characters when moving, copying, or renaming files and folders (invalid characters are: * < > : " / | \ ? ; ! ^).
Cosmetic-only changes to names of workflow actions (now sentence case).
