The Export to PNG workflow action exports a PNG file (.png) from an Adobe InDesign file (.indd or .indb).
The Export to PNG workflow action is divided into two tabs: General and Image.
You can also use workflow variables to specify input fields. To insert a workflow variable, click the lightning bolt icon and choose a variable from the pop-up menu.
Use this tab to specify the input, output, InDesign Server, and page range.
|Input||The file path to the input InDesign document (.indd) or book (.indb). Click the Choose File icon to choose the input InDesign file. Alternatively, enter the file path to the input file—for example, /Input/my-input.indd.|
|Output||The file path to the output image file (.png). Enter a name for the exported PNG file. Alternatively, click Choose File to choose an output file.
The default output is output-1.png.
|InDesign Server||Choose the InDesign Server or Blinkenlights queue.|
|Range||Enter the page number of a specific page or pages you want to export. Separate numbers in a range by using a hyphen, and separate multiple pages or ranges by using commas. For example, 1-3, 6-9.
The default range is All, which exports all pages.
|Pages, Spreads||Select Pages to export facing pages in a spread to a single PNG file. Select Spreads to export each page in a spread as a separate PNG file.
Pages and Spreads are mutually exclusive.
Pages is selected by default.
Use this tab to configure how the PNG file is exported.
|Quality||Choose the quality of the exported image. Options include:
|Resolution (ppi)||Enter the resolution in pixels per inch (ppi) for the exported PNG file—for example, 72, 96, 150, or 300.
The default resolution is 96.
|Color space||Specify the colour space of the exported PNG file. Options include
|Transparent background||Select Transparent background if you want the exported PNG file to have a transparent background. Deselect if you do not want a transparent background.
Transparent background is selected by default.
|Anti-alias||Select Anti-alias to smooth the jagged edges of text and bitmap images.
Anti-alias is selected by default.
|Use document bleed settings||Select Use document bleed settings to have the bleed area specified in InDesign's Document Setup panel appear in the exported PNG file. Deselect if you don't want the bleed area to appear in the exported image.

|Simulate overprint||Select Simulate overprint to simulate the effects of overprinting spot inks with different neutral density values by converting spot colours to process colours for printing.
