Typefi Server v8.10 was released on 5 July 2023, but soon after, we discovered a regression that adversely affects Typefi Writer users when a workflow contains a variable that includes a colon character (for example, ${input:first}
). Our team resolved the regression with Typefi Server v8.11, which is available today.
What happened?
Typefi Writer users that try to attach or update an affected workflow from Typefi Server v8.10 cannot attach or update those workflows and instead encounter an error:Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: <, Path ", line 0 position 0. Server File.JsonTSS
.
Who is affected?
This regression affects Typefi Server v8.10 workflows that contain one or more workflow variables that include a colon character (for example, ${input:first}
) when:
- A user attempts to update or attach an affected workflow within Typefi Writer,
- A user attempts to download a Typefi Style Sheet (TSS) from Typefi Server v8.10 to use offline with Typefi Writer, or
- An external application calls the
/api/v3/tss
API endpoint.
Is there a workaround?
While you can edit the affected workflows to remove any workflow variables that contain a colon character, this is not advised because it can materially change how your workflow functions. The recommendation is to instead update your Typefi Server to v8.11 or later, which resolves this regression.
What actions should I take?
Update your Typefi Server to v8.11 or later. No additional actions are necessary for end users (Typefi Writer, API integrations, or workflows).
