Typefi Designer 8.7.1 is not compatible with InDesign 16.3

On 16 June 2021, Adobe released InDesign 16.3, which added native support for Apple devices with the M1 processor. Unfortunately, InDesign 16.3 broke compatibility with Typefi Designer 8.7.1 or earlier for both macOS and Windows. If you open InDesign 16.3 with Typefi Designer 8.7.1 or earlier installed, you will see this error message:

Windows

Cannot load the TYPEFIDESIGNER.PLN plug-in. It is dependent on the TYPEFILAYOUT.PLN plug-in, which failed to load. Please check documentation for the TYPEFILAYOUT.PLN plug-in.

Solution

Upgrade to InDesign 16.3 and install Typefi Designer 8.7.2 or later. Typefitter 4, Typefitter 5, and Typefi AutoFit are not affected. Only Typefi Designer is affected by this change.
