Serialize Adobe InDesign Server on Windows Server

Adobe's website provides complete information on using the Adobe provisioning toolkit to serialize InDesign Server.

1. Download Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition from this link.
2. Unblock the file as it is likely blocked by Windows (right-click, properties, Unblock).
3. Run the file. This is a self-extracting zip, so extract to a convenient location.
4. Open the directory and review the contents, locate adobe_prtk.exe and note the location.
5. Stop the InDesignServerService (InDesignServerServicex64) service from the Services Console.
6. Launch Command Prompt as Administrator and change into the directory where you extracted the adobe_prtk.exe.
7. Run the following serialization commands depending on the version of InDesign Server you presently have installed:
   • Adobe InDesign Server 2019
     

     • adobe_prtk.exe --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-14-Win-GM --serial=<SERIALNUMBER>  --adobeid=<youradobeid

   • Adobe InDesign Server 2018

     • adobe_prtk.exe --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-13-Win-GM --serial=<SERIALNUMBER>  --adobeid=<youradobeid>

   • Adobe InDesign Server 2017

     • adobe_prtk.exe --tool=Serialize --leid=V7{}InDesignServer-12-Win-GM --serial=<SERIALNUMBER>  --adobeid=<youradobeid>
