The legacy PDFtk plug-in, discontinued on 01 January 2019, won't work with Typefi Server v8.14 or later. The recommended alternative is our PDF Utilities plug-in (currently v2.0.91).
If your workflows still use the legacy PDFtk-based actions, please migrate to PDF Utilities before upgrading to Typefi Server v8.14 or later to keep things running smoothly.
How do you know if your workflows include the PDFtk plug-in and workflow actions?
The first step is to verify if you have the PDFtk workflow plug-in installed:
- Sign in to Typefi Server.
- Navigate to the Actions tab.
- Search for PDFtk plug-in. (The plug-ins are listed in alphabetical order).
If the PDFtk plug-in is listed in Actions, check all workflows for any PDFtk actions in use.
Workflows with PDFtk actions
If your Typefi Server has the PDFtk workflow plug-in, the next step is to edit any workflows that use PDFtk actions. When you open a workflow, look for the PDFtk icon in the workflow graph at the top-right of your workflow (opposite the workflow name). PDFtk actions display a hammer icon:
If your workflow(s) includes PDFtk actions, follow the steps below:
- If it's not already installed, please install the PDF Utilities plug-in first (see the help article, Install workflow plug-ins and actions).
- Navigate to a workflow.
- Click Add Action to add an equivalent PDF Utilities action (see table below) to your workflow.
- TIP: Because new actions are appended to the end of your workflow, use the Reorder toggle button to easily move the PDF Utilities action into the correct position.

- Transfer any settings from the legacy PDFtk action to the equivalent PDF Utilities action.
- Finally, Delete the legacy PDF action from its Action menu.
- Repeat steps 2–6 for other workflows.
After modifying all workflows, Uninstall the legacy PDFtk workflow plug-in from Admin → Plug-ins.
