You can use conditions at various levels with Typefi Writer. The highest level of content that can be
marked up with a condition is a Typefi Section.
Conditions are only available to Typefi Writer when they have been inserted as an Apply condition(s) action in a Typefi workflow.
You can insert conditions for Typefi Sections, Elements, Tables, and individual content chunks.
Insert a conditional Typefi Section
When you mark up a Typefi Section with a condition, all content within that Section is
included in the condition. For instance, in a Teacher/Student publication, the teacher edition might
have additional Sections included at the back of the publication with in-depth answers to end-of-chapter questions; or specific training instructions.
You can set a condition for a Section when inserting or editing a Section.
To insert a condition:
- Insert a Section as you usually would, or double-click the SECTION marker to edit it.
- In the dialog, click the Conditions tab.
- Select the condition(s) you want to insert.
- Click OK.
The condition is inserted into the Section.
Insert a conditional Typefi Element
When you mark up a Typefi Element with a condition, it means that all content within that Element is
included in the condition. For instance, in a Teacher/Student publication, the teacher edition might
have additional Elements included in the publication with answers to specific questions; or detailed training instructions.
You can set a condition for an Element when inserting or editing an Element.
To insert a condition:
- Insert an Element as you usually would, or double-click the ELEMENT marker to edit it.
- In the dialog, click Conditions.
- Select the condition(s) you want to insert.
- Click OK.
The condition is inserted into the Element.
Insert a conditional Typefi Table
When you mark up a Typefi Table with a condition, it means that all content within that Table is included in the condition. For instance, in a Teacher/Student publication, the teacher edition might have an additional Table included at the back of the publication with extra learning resources; or specific training instructions.
You can set a condition for a Table when inserting or editing a Table.
To insert a condition:
- Insert a Table as you usually would (Typefi tab → Insert group → Table), or double-click the TABLE marker to edit it.
- In the dialog, click the Conditions tab.
- Select the condition(s) you want to use.
- Click OK.
The condition is inserted into the Table.
Insert a conditional content chunk
To insert a condition for a specific "chunk" of content:
- Highlight the content you want to add a condition to. Alternatively, insert the cursor at a location where you would like to add conditional content.
- In the Typefi tab, within the Insert group, click Condition → Insert Condition.
- Select the condition you want to use.
- Click OK.
The condition is inserted in and is recognisable by its distinctive markup.
You can change the condition markup colour via the Apply condition(s) workflow action.
You can nest conditions too. For example, you could have a conditional Element within a conditional Section.
