Metadata is “data about data”. In Typefi Writer, you can insert and manage metadata within paragraphs. Metadata is not generally visible in any final output, but can be used to pass hidden content through a workflow without loss (for example, when roundtrip editing from Word → InDesign → Word).
Insert metadata
To insert metadata:
- Position your cursor where you want to insert metadata.
- On the Typefi tab, in the Insert group, click Metadata.
- Choose Insert Metadata.
- Click Click here and type text and enter your custom metadata.
Apply metadata to existing content
To apply metadata to existing content:
- Highlight the content that you want to be metadata.
- On the Typefi tab, in the Insert group, click Metadata.
- Choose Insert Metadata.
Set the metadata type
To set the metadata type:
- Double-click the META start tag to open the Edit metadata dialog.
- In the Metadata Type field, enter a custom metadata type.
- Click OK.
Delete metadata
To delete metadata:
- Double-click the META start tag to open the Edit metadata dialog.
- Click Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog, click OK.
