Typefi only certifies Writer compatibility with the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel.
Microsoft Modern Lifecycle Policy for Microsoft 365 ensures continuous product support, provided customers "stay current" by accepting and applying servicing updates within a specific timeframe. The update schedule varies depending on your selected update channel.
Why does Typefi only certify Writer compatibility with the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel?
The Current Channel delivers new or updated features, security updates, and non-security updates at least once per month. However, each release is only supported until the next monthly update becomes available, which can introduce compatibility risks for line-of-business applications like Typefi Writer.
Typefi strongly recommends selecting the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, which provides updates on a predictable schedule that allows for thorough testing—minimising compatibility risks and disruptions with Typefi Writer.
Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel update schedule:
- Feature and security updates are delivered twice a year (January and July), ensuring stability while keeping systems secure and up to date.
- Security updates, including critical patches, are released as part of Microsoft's Monthly Security Update (Patch Tuesday) on the second Tuesday of each month.
What if the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel isn't an option?
If your organisation cannot use the Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel due to internal policies or other requirements, the Monthly Enterprise Channel provides security updates and feature improvements on a regular schedule, with releases on the second Tuesday of each month.
