There are two editions of Typefi Writer: one for 64-bit operating systems and one for 32-bit operating systems.
NOTE Microsoft Office automatically installs the 64-bit version unless you explicitly choose the 32-bit version before beginning the installation.
Typefi Writer for 64-bit operating systems
NOTE The 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer supports the 64-bit versions of Microsoft Word 2013 and later.
Prep
- Review the system requirements.
- Check if your workflow includes DOTM files. If so, contact your Solutions Consultant to install the 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer.
- This step is required to upgrade from the 32-bit edition to the 64-bit edition. Uninstall Typefi Writer. For step-by-step instructions, see Uninstall or remove apps and programs in Windows 10.
- This step is required to upgrade from the 32-bit edition to the 64-bit edition. Uninstall Office and reinstall the 64-bit version of Office.
- Confirm the 64-bit version of Microsoft Word is installed. Follow the instruction in What version of Office am I using?
Install Typefi Writer for 64-bit operating systems
- Access the Typefi FTP. Go to https://ftp.typefi.com and sign in using your Typefi credentials.
- Download the latest version of Typefi Writer. The latest version is available in the
Typefi__Writer
folder. TheTypefi__Writer
folder should be one of the first things you see when you sign in to the FTP; if you do not see it, contact your Solutions Consultant.

FAQ
What's the difference between the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Typefi Writer?
The 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer is completely re-written from the ground up to be compatible with modern 64-bit applications.
The 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer features the same user interface as the 32-bit edition of Typefi Writer, with the addition of floating style panels, which means you can apply paragraph and character styles to content significantly faster (with less potential for error, too!).

Is Typefi Writer for the 32-bit version of Word still supported? Do I have to upgrade?
The 32-bit edition of Typefi Writer is still available but is now deprecated. We recommend you upgrade to the 64-bit edition.
I'm currently using Typefi 8.6.X and want to upgrade to 8.7. Can I still use the 32-bit edition of Typefi Writer?
Yes. The edition of Typefi Writer you use depends on the version of Microsoft Word you are using. For more information, see Choose between the 64-bit or 32-bit edition of Typefi Writer.
Help! I am receiving an error that the 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer cannot be installed.
First, make sure you uninstall Microsoft Office (including any stand-alone Office apps you have, such as Project or Visio).
Next, if you were previously using the 32-bit edition of Typefi Writer, make sure you uninstall it.
Then, reinstall the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office. TIP The 64-bit version of Office is the default version.
Once the 64-bit version of Office is installed, install the 64-bit edition of Typefi Writer again.
