DeltaXML provides high-performance, accurate comparisons between selected XML documents and data. It is guaranteed to find all the changes in your XML, be it an element, attribute or content, and then deliver that back in XML for easy downstream processing.
The DeltaXML plug-in (v8.0.87) comes bundled with XML Compare (v14.0.2). Customers using previous versions of Delta XML workflow actions —STS redline and Compare XML —will need to update workflow actions and DCP resources to ensure the new features of DeltaXML compare (v14) are available.
What does the DeltaXML plug-in do?
The DeltaXML plug-in contains the DeltaXML compare workflow action, which compares two Typefi Content XML (.cxml) or XML files and produces an output delta file (.xml) that highlights the differences between the two files. You can use the DeltaXML compare workflow action to run XML comparisons either with default settings or a customised DeltaXML Document Comparator Pipeline (DCP) to set specific parameters that influence which XML changes you see. This enables you to tailor the comparison process to your specific needs and preferences.
Learn more about running XML comparisons with customised pipelines in the help article Run DeltaXML compare.
How are changes shown in a delta XML file?
DeltaXML uses a text key to distinguish each change in the output XML file.
- A = File A (Input1.xml) attributes or elements
- B = File B (Input2.xml) attributes or elements
- A = B represents unchanged attributes or elements in both files.
- A!= B represents changed attributes or elements. The [!] exclamation mark shows differences between attributes or elements in File A and File B.
Use Typefi to view XML changes in PDF or INDD
See XML changes in your preferred format
While the DeltaXML plug-in allows you to use the DeltaXML compare workflow action to view changes in an XML format, you may want to view the output in a different format. Typefi workflow actions make this possible. You can add customised actions to your XML workflow to show changes you need to view in your preferred format.
For instance, if you’d like to view colour-coded changes, redline deletions, or add specialised tags for differences, Typefi can customise your workflow to take your DeltaXML compare output.xml file and transform it into a PDF or INDD output.
