The HTML action enables Typefi workflows to natively export HTML, an open and standardised markup used to create webpages that are viewable using any modern browser, including mobile devices. Content can be exported to either a single HTML file or split at specific points to create multiple HTML files, and images are automatically optimised for online and mobile consumption. For more information about the HTML plug-in, please get in touch.
The latest version of the HTML plug-in is 7.0.71, released on 22 Sept 2025.
We release updates regularly, and it’s our goal to make sure that our software works well, constantly—that Typefi continues to deliver, every day. If you have any feedback or run into any issues, please drop us a line. We’re happy to help.

More power, more flexibility: Introducing the new HTML plug-in
We’re excited to release a completely re-engineered HTML plug-in with a more flexible and powerful foundation. This new architecture separates the core plug-in logic from the CXML to HTML conversion process, allowing us to make significant improvements to the Generate HTML5 workflow action (formerly Export to HTML) and the new Generate XHTML action.
Generate HTML5 (formerly Export HTML)
The enhanced Generate HTML5 workflow action transforms your Content XML (CXML) into dynamic webpages. With customisable Table of Contents (TOC) heading levels, a new CSS tab, and a more intuitive interface, the Generate HTML5 workflow action allows you to produce high-quality webpages more efficiently.
Key features include:
-
A new Resources field is now available for adding our new core CXML to HTML5 XZIP file (.xzip). This core transform will be made available to you by your Solutions Consultant on the Typefi FTP. The core XZIP can be customised to allow the Typefi team to tailor your HTML output to your unique branding and structure requirements.
Only XZIP files built for HTML plug-in (v7 or later) are compatible. If you have an earlier version, you’ll need to use new XZIP files—available for download from the Typefi FTP.
-
Customisable Table of Contents heading levels: (Requires CXML 3.3) You can now define your webpage’s navigation by specifying which heading levels, from your Content XML (CXML), should appear in your Table of Contents (TOC). Just click the corresponding buttons (H1-H6) that match your CXML heading level tags (for example,
<h1 type="Heading 1">Content</h1). For more information on working with headings, see CXML 3.3.
This new foundation provides more than just new features. It means you can look forward to faster updates because we can now deploy bug fixes and release improvements without affecting the core plug-in and provide a foundation for future-ready customisations.
The HTML plug-in (v7) is ready to grow with your publishing needs. Interested in customising? Please contact your Solutions Consultant to learn more.
Check out the new Generate XHTML workflow action!
The new Generate XHTML workflow action transforms your Content XML (CXML) into Extensible HyperText Markup Language (XHTML), which adheres to stricter XML-based parsing rules than HTML. The Generate XHTML workflow is organised in three tabs: General, Links, and CSS.
Features include:
- In the General tab, you can add your input, output, resources (XZIP) files, and required metadata.
- In the Links tab, you can configure how images (JPEG, PNG, and GIF) are exported.
- In the CSS tab, you can add multiple cascading stylesheets (CSS) to customise how images are handled when generating the webpage. Alternatively, you can choose to apply the built-in stylesheet, which runs by default. For more detail, see the CSS section in the Generate XHTML help article.
