Caution: Adobe InDesign 16.3.x breaks Typefi Designer
On 16 June 2021, Adobe began rolling out InDesign 2021 (version 16.3), which added native support for Apple devices with the M1 processor, along with several bug fixes.
Unfortunately, InDesign 16.3.x breaks compatibility with Typefi Designer for both macOS and Windows. If you open InDesign 16.3.x with Typefi Designer installed, you will see an error message.
While InDesign 16.3 has been available for Windows for nearly a month, the macOS release was twice delayed due to critical issues found during Adobe's phased rollout of the 16.3.x version. Adobe has now completed their rollout of InDesign 16.3.x globally, but we haven't yet finished our update to workaround the change that broke Typefi Designer.
Workaround
Please don't update to Adobe InDesign version 16.3.x until we release a compatible version of Typefi Designer.*
If you've already updated to InDesign 16.3.x or if the Creative Cloud desktop app updated you automatically, it's easy to install the previous version of InDesign (version 16.2.x).
This issue does not affect Typefi AutoFit or Typefitter. If you have any questions, please contact us. Our team is happy to help!
* Typefi Designer supports Adobe InDesign releases on a rolling schedule—support for new Adobe releases will become available within 90 days of their general availability. For more info, see the Typefi product support matrix (click the Typefi Designer tab).
