With Typefi, you can export equations to PDF, HTML, EPUB (and more!), without sacrificing design quality or accessibility. Equations can be authored in MathML (Mathematical Markup language), which is an XML-based language for describing mathematical and scientific equations, or as equation images (MathType).
|Script||Script event||What does it do?|
|Document start or Book start||Properly passes MathML equations into InDesign.|
|MathML to MathZone:
|Spill end||Converts raw MathML notation into native MathTools MathZones (the area in your document where the equation is displayed).|
NOTE If your input is MathType EPS files instead of MathML, use the MathType to MathZone script (10_MathTypeToMz.jsxbin) instead of the MathML to MathZone script (10_MmlToMz.jsxbin).
Typefi provides these scripts (and more!).
For example, if you were to add the MathML handler and MathML to MathZone script to the Create InDesign document workflow action, it would look something like this:
To add a script to a workflow action:
- Within the workflow action, click the Event scripts tab.
- For each event you want to add a script to, click the Choose Files or Folders icon to select a script from the Typefi Server filestore. To add a script from your local computer, click Browse in the pop-up window. When you select a script from your local computer, it is automatically added to the Typefi Server filestore.
- Run your workflow and let the scripts do their magic.
TIP If you erroneously add a script, click the x icon on the left to delete it.
Here's an example of a Typefi workflow that converts a Microsoft Word document that contains MathML into a PDF:
|Workflow action||What does it do?|
|Import DOCX||Imports a Word document (.docx) and exports a Content XML (.cxml) document.|
|Copy folder||Copies the Document Fonts folder to a specified job folder.|
|Create InDesign document||Creates an InDesign document (.indd) from the Content XML document.For MathML-enabled workflows, be sure to include the MathML handler script (MathML_Handler.jsxbin) at Document start and the MathML to MathZone script (MmlToMz.jsxbin) at Spill end on the Event scripts tab.|
|Export to PDF||Exports the InDesign document to a PDF file.|
