We’re thrilled to announce availability of Typefi 8.7! You can download the latest installers from https://ftp.typefi.com (sign in using your Typefi credentials). See Typefi latest releases for more information.
Typefi 8.7 introduces support for InDesign 2020 and is focused on usability and accessibility improvements to help you do even more. We’re especially excited about our new role-based user controls and keyboard shortcuts for Typefi Server.
InDesign 2020 support
Typefi Server 8.7 and Typefi Designer 8.7 add support for Adobe InDesign 2020 (15.x), and retire support for InDesign CC 2017.
Please note that to use Typefi Server and Designer 8.7, you will need to update your Adobe InDesign workflow plug-in to version 30 or later.
Say goodbye to accidentally deleted workflows
Roles is a new feature designed to give Typefi administrators the ability to control what specific users are allowed to do in Typefi Server.
For example, an admin could create a role that allows someone to run, but not modify, workflows and then assign this role to people who don't need to modify workflows. This prevents someone from accidentally deleting or changing a workflow.
Unless an admin assigns a user a new role, all users will have the same level of permissions as they did in Server 8.6.4 or earlier. See Working with roles for step-by-step instructions.
Work faster with keyboard shortcuts
Keyboard shortcuts make Typefi Server more accessible for everyone and help you work more efficiently. See Keyboard shortcuts for Typefi Server to get started.
Full IDML support for better roundtripping
Typefi Designer 8.7 now provides full IDML (InDesign Markup Language) support. This means you can now completely roundtrip all of your Typefi markup.
Take advantage of Designer’s full IDML support to:
- Reduce the file size of your InDesign documents—without losing your existing Typefi markup—by exporting to IDML;
- Make your Typefi templates backward compatible with previous versions of InDesign (CC 2018 or later);
- Reuse your Typefi Fields, Frames, and Elements (in addition to AutoFit parent-child relationships and maximum frame height and width constraints) to rapidly assemble templates and documents with Typefi intelligence built in.
A long farewell: 32-bit MS Word for Typefi Writer
While Typefi Designer 8.7, Typefi AutoFit 8.7, and Typefitter 4.3 require the 64-bit version of Adobe InDesign, Typefi Writer 8.7 still requires the 32-bit version of Microsoft Word.
We'll be updating Typefi Writer for compatibility with the 64-bit version of Word in a later release.
