Say goodbye to bad breaks, overset text, short lines, unbalanced columns, and more!
Typefitter is an automated copy-fitting plug-in that seamlessly integrates into Adobe InDesign. Use it to manually tighten or loosen text, or automatically find and fix overset text, short lines, unbalanced columns, and more.
Automatically copyfit without jeopardising quality
Typefitter’s algorithms search for the smallest possible change that fits your text.
Create and edit custom typefit rules
Adjust which text and attributes are modified, and set limits on how much Typefitter can change.
Maintain full control
Typefitter allows you to manually tighten and loosen text where needed. It also tracks all changes and highlights modified text, so you can easily remove changes where required.
Typefitting text has never been so quick, simple, or effective
Typefitter is the perfect copyfitting plug-in for Adobe InDesign. It can also be used with our automated publishing platform, Typefi Cloud or Typefi 8. Download a free trial of Typefitter today!
@typefi has released #Typefitter 4.1 with support for @InDesign #CC2019! It’s my most essential plugin—I won’t start using the new version of InDesign until it’s compatible. https://t.co/Nj3mwKSoJn

Purchase, installation, and activation ↩
Typefitter for InDesign CC is available as an annual subscription, either prepaid ($59.88 USD/year) or paid monthly ($4.99 USD/month). Typefitter for InDesign CC is also bundled free with a Typefi Cloud Bronze subscription (contact Typefi Sales for your free coupon code).
Typefitter for InDesign CS6 is available as a free download (registration required), but is not eligible for technical support, and we make no assurances of future security or non-security updates.
Subscriptions (including free licences of Typefitter for InDesign CS6) can be purchased through our online store, powered by eSellerate. Subscriptions are OS-agnostic; you can use the licence on either macOS or Windows. Typefitter can also be activated on up to two computers used exclusively by the same person.
- Purchase a Typefitter subscription through our online store*
- Download the latest installer from https://www.typefi.com/typefitter
- Install Typefitter for InDesign CC 2017 and later
- Launch InDesign CC
- From InDesign's Help menu, select Activate Typefi Plug-in → Activate Typefitter
- Copy the serial number from the Order Confirmation you received via email from esellerate@typefi.com and then paste it into this box:
- Click Activate Automatically
* If you received a Typefitter coupon code from a Typefi-sponsored event or email, please make sure you enter and apply it in the Coupon Code field before checking out (see also below).
Trial licences
You can test drive Typefitter free of charge for 20 days. During this trial period, there are no limitations or restrictions in how you use Typefitter to ensure that you have a complete experience before purchasing.
After the trial period has ended, you will no longer have access to any Typefitter features until you've purchased an activation key. However, Typefitter is NOT a required plug-in and you will still have full access to your InDesign files after the trial period has ended.
Coupon codes
If you received a Typefitter coupon code from a Typefi-sponsored event or email, please make sure you enter it in the Coupon Code field and apply it to your shopping cart before clicking Checkout.
Note: coupon codes can generally only be used once.
How many computers can I install on?
The number of licences bought indicates the number of eligible users at any one time. We allow activation on up to two computers used exclusively by the same person. For example, if you have a computer you work on in your office and your own computer at home, you can install and activate Typefitter on both computers.
Also, if you have multiple versions of Adobe InDesign on a single computer (for example, both InDesign CC 2018 and InDesign CC 2019), each copy of InDesign will use one of your two activations.
Deactivating or transferring a licence
A single licence for Typefitter can be activated on up to two computers used exclusively by the same person. To use Typefitter on a third computer (for example, if your work computer is being serviced and you have a loaner), deactivate Typefitter on the computer on which you no longer want to use Typefitter. Then, activate Typefitter on your new computer.
From InDesign's Help menu, select Deactivate Typefi Plug-in → Deactivate Typefitter to deactivate Typefitter. There is no need to quit and re-launch InDesign to complete the deactivation.
When you are ready to re-activate Typefitter on your original computer (from InDesign's Help menu, select Activate Typefi Plug-in → Activate Typefitter), don't forget to deactivate it from the loaner. Failure to do so may result in abuse of your licence, which will result in it being blocked for future use!
If you can't access your old computer (for example, it was lost, damaged, or stolen), don't worry. We can help. Just provide us with the email you used to subscribe or any other identifying information (order number or serial number) and we'll get you set.
Managing or cancelling your subscription
If you have received an email notification about an upcoming subscription billing and you want to cancel your subscription, want to print a copy of your original receipt, update your billing information, or update the email address associated with your order, follow these simple steps:
- Go to https://store.esellerate.net/Store/Support/
- Enter both your email address and order number* (your order number begins with
ST
and includes several numbers), and then click Submit
* If you don't know your order number and can't find your original Order Confirmation email (from esellerate@typefi.com), enter your email address and click E-mail Order History instead.
If you need assistance, please reach out with whatever information you have that can help us look up your order for you.
Troubleshooting ↩
Could not find engine! The error occurred while installing the eSellerate engine. 0XE001004
This error (and similar) generally means that something went wrong with the original installation and a required component of eSellerate (our licensing and activation provider) didn't install properly. Please download and install the eSellerate Engine Update and try activating again.
If this doesn't work (macOS-only), try deleting the /Library/Frameworks/EWSMac.framework
and /Library/Frameworks/EWSMac-GC.framework
folders, and then install the eSellerate Engine Update again.
Manual activation
If you are unable to use automatic activation, you can manually activate using a web browser on either your own computer or a different computer.
- From InDesign's Help menu, select Activate Typefi Plug-in → Activate Typefitter
- Copy the serial number from the Order Confirmation you received via email from esellerate@typefi.com and then paste it into this box:
- Click Activate Manually, and then select an activation option:
- After following the instructions to manually activate using a web browser, return to this dialog, select I have an Activation Key, and then click Next
- Enter the activation key exactly as generated (watch out for commonly confused alphanumeric characters like "O" vs "0"), and then click Activate
