Notices
Every product has a lifecycle. The lifecycle begins when a product is released and ends when it is no longer supported.
For more information about our end of support policies, see Typefi Product Support Lifecycle.
Adobe Creative Cloud compatibility
Adobe updates and adds new features to the Creative Cloud on an ongoing basis. Creative Cloud updates are optional and must first be certified for compatibility by Typefi before installing. The latest supported Creative Cloud release for Typefi 8.5 is Adobe InDesign 2018 (13.x). In May 2019, Adobe announced changes to Creative Cloud download availability that limit direct download access to the two most recent major versions of Creative Cloud desktop applications (currently InDesign 2020 and InDesign 2019). However, Typefi continues to support the three recent major versions (InDesign 2020 coming in Q1 2020, InDesign 2019, InDesign 2018, and InDesign 2017).
Adobe stopped all sales of the Creative Suite on 9 January 2017 and ended support for Creative Suite applications (including InDesign CS6 Server) on 30 April 2017.
- With the release of Typefi Designer 8.3 (22 August 2017), support for InDesign CS6 (8.x) and InDesign CC (9.x) was officially deprecated and then ended on 31 October 2017.
- With the release of Typefi Designer 8.4 (16 January 2018), support for InDesign 2014 (13.x) transitioned to end of life.
- With the release of Typefi Designer 8.6 (19 February 2019), support for InDesign 2015 (14.x) transitioned to end of life.
For more information about our end of support policies, see Typefi Product Support Lifecycle.
Microsoft Office compatibility
One of the benefits of Office 365 is that Microsoft provides new features for Office apps on a regular basis. The schedule for these updates depends on your selected update channel. Typefi only certifies Writer compatibility with the Semi-annual update channel. While the Monthly (formerly "Current") channel delivers new or updated features, and security and non-security updates at least once each month, these releases are only supported by Microsoft until the next monthly channel release is available and may break compatibility with line-of-business applications like Typefi Writer (for example, the August 2017 "Monthly" update introduced a bug in a critical component used by Writer). For these reasons, Typefi strongly recommends selecting the Semi-annual (formerly "Deferred") update channel, which also delivers new or updated features, and security and non-security updates, but on a slower schedule of two (formerly three) updates each year. The Semi-annual update channel also extends support to 18 months from first release. For more information about the channel releases for Office 365 client applications, see Office 365 client update channel releases.
To change your update channel to Semi-annual (formerly "Deferred"), do the following:
- Run Command Prompt (cmd) as Administrator
- Enter the following commands:
cd "\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun" OfficeC2RClient.exe /changesetting Channel=Deferred OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user exit
- Wait for the updates to download and install
With the release of Typefi Writer 8.3, support for Microsoft Word 2007 was officially deprecated. In addition, in accordance with Microsoft Lifecycle Policy, support for Word 2007 ended on 10 October 2017. For more information about our end of support policies, see Typefi Product Support Lifecycle.
OS X Mavericks (v10.9) end of support notice
In addition, support for OS X Mavericks (v10.9) was been officially deprecated with the release of Typefi Server 8.3 and Typefi Designer 8.3. Later releases will require OS X Yosemite (v10.10) or later.*
* Adobe does not support Adobe InDesign CC 2018 (v13.x) with OS X Yosemite (v10.10).
Linux support statement
Typefi will provide installation support for distributions based on the Linux 2.6 kernel or later to customers with Gold or Platinum Support Agreements.

We are hard at work on the next major release of Typefi 8, and wanted to share some information on upcoming changes to the system requirements in order to give everyone time to prepare for the release.
In order to more effectively scale up in the future, Typefi 8.3 Workgroup Server and Typefi 8.3 Desktop will require a 64-bit Oracle Java Runtime Environment. Focusing on more modern architectures allows us to spend more time adding functionality requested by users.
Please note that this does not affect Typefi Designer for Adobe InDesign, which supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Adobe InDesign CS6 or later, or Typefi Writer for Microsoft Word, which remains a 32-bit application for broad compatibility.
